Supervision is an important part of everyone’s practice to help practitioners feel safe, supported, and competent in their role as helpers and colleagues. Dr Zammit provides supervision for psychologists as a registered supervisor with the Psychology Board of Australia.

Dr Zammit also works in roles supporting a number of allied health practitioners and peer workers within private practice and community health settings. Supervision can assist with broader clinical supervision needs, or focus specifically on developing skills within a Motivational Interviewing (MI) Framework including utilisation of a coaching supervision approach. Please contact Dr Sonia Zammit for specific requests for supervision to support health practitioners and organisations.

Dr Zammit also provides clinical and MI supervision for facilitators of Drink and Drug Drive Behaviour Change programs, a VicRoads initiative. Facilitators and providers of the program can contact Dr Zammit to discuss your individual or organisation’s needs.

Supervision can be provided in person at Essendon consulting rooms, over the phone, or via video conferencing based on your needs.  

Supervision is generally billed at $250 +GST per hour

MI Coaching Groups: Listening with Purpose Online Training 

Small group coaching sessions are provided by Dr Zammit and psychologist Bronwyn Campbell. These group sessions are for helpers from any professional background who have completed training in Motivational Interviewing Foundation Skills and find themselves eager to learn more. Clinicians with all levels of skill are welcome, from the curious, inspired novice, to the seasoned practitioner. See below for information and registration for upcoming coaching series.

Training Workshops

Dr Zammit provides in person and online  Motivational Interviewing workshops . Training is aimed at developing the skills for individual and organisations to generate conversations about behaviour change and growth to support people’s mental and physical wellbeing. Training is often provided in partnership with psychologist Bronwyn Campbell who also specialises in training within a Motivational Interviewing Theoretical Framework.

Motivational Interviewing: Foundation Skills for Conversations about Change (2 days)

This interactive, two day training aims to help participants gain a good overview of Motivational Interviewing and bring awareness to particular skills they could use to help generate conversations and actions toward positive behaviour change. Topics covered include:

  • The spirit of Motivational Interviewing and how to develop good engagement
  • Working with ambivalence and seeing this as a normal part of the behaviour change process
  • Generating conversations in client centred and guided style toward making change
  • Core communication micro-skills
  • Recognising and responding to language (change talk) most likely to support the client toward positive behaviour changes
  • Moving and responding at the right pace with the client to support the change process
  • Understanding the difference between contemplating change, and committing to change
  • Responding to discord and sustain language to help maintain engagement despite challenging behaviours
