Rebates and Financial Support

  • Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP)
    Allows access to a rebate of $124.50 up to 10 consultations per calendar year.
    Reduces your out of pocket cost to $60.50.
    You must bring your referral to your first appointment to access the rebate.
    Full fee of $185 must be paid in full. The rebate will then be processed immediately if a savings or cheque bank account card is available. Alternatively a receipt will be provided for you to claim with Medicare. Your GP, Psychiatrist, or paediatrician will assess if you are eligible for this type of referral. We recommend you book a longer appointment when obtaining your referral. Care Plan must be obtained prior to your appointment with your psychologist to access the Medicare rebate. Please advise your psychologist if you have seen another psychologist within the same calendar year as this may reduce access to rebates. Also provides access to 10 group therapy sessions run by a registered psychologist. You can speak with your psychologist regarding this option.   • Financial Hardship
    If you are experiencing financial hard ship, a reduced consultation fee may be arranged directly with your psychologist. Please speak with your psychologist when first booking an appointment, or any time during your treatment if you are experiencing financial hardship. We aim to ensure everyone has access to support.
  • Bulk Billing
    If you are eligible for a Mental Health Care Plan as detailed above, and are under financial hardship bulk billing may be available. This means no out of pocket cost for up to 10 sessions per calendar year. Those most likely to be eligible for this option include those with a health care card or pension card, those homeless, and students as we aim to ensure everyone has access to treatment. Please speak with your psychologist to discuss your eligibility for this option when you are first booking an appointment or any time during your treatment.
  • Private health insurance
    Most private health insurance companies offer rebates for psychological services, however the amount varies depending on the type and level of cover you have. You can contact your insurance company directly to ask. Private Insurance can assist to cover the cost of any consultation including those who have already used available medicare rebates on a MHCP. Private health insurance can not be used to claim the portion of out of pocket cost after a Medicare rebate has been provided. You must choose to claim either the Medicare rebate, or with your health insurance. A receipt will be provided for you to send to your insurer. If you insurer requires your psychologist to be a registered provider with the particular insurance company speak to your psychologist regarding this.
  • Chronic Disease Management Plan
    For those with a chronic medical condition which requires support from at least two allied health practitioners (including a psychologist). Your GP can help you assess if you are eligible and provide a referral
    Medicare rebate for psychologists is $52.95 reducing out of pocket cost to $132.05 per consultation unless otherwise arranged with your psychologist.
    Full fee of $185 must be paid in full. The medicare rebate may be processed immediately or a receipt can be provided claim with Medicare.
    Bulk billing is rarely offered for a CDM plan, however please speak with your psychologist if you are under financial hardship.
    This plan provides Medicare rebates for 5 total allied health consultations per sessions per calendar year. You must inform your psychologist if you have seen another allied health practitioner on this plan as this may reduce access to rebates. You will be responsible to cover the full cost of the psychological consultation.   • Traffic Accident Commission (TAC) Claims
    TAC may be able to pay for access to psychological treatment consultations if you are seeking treatment for a physical or psychological injury which occurred in a Transport related accident. You will not have out of pocket costs as TAC will be billed directly. You must have an approved TAC claim including psychological treatment as part of your recovery plan, prior to your consultation. Please give your approved TAC claim number to your psychologist when booking your first appointment so that we can also check that your claim has been approved. You may also need to obtain a referral from your GP for psychological treatment under your TAC claim. Please bring this to your first session. If your claim is not approved you will responsible for payment of the consultation fee. TAC will not cover cancellation and non attendance fees. You will be responsible for full payment of any other fees incurred.   • Work Safe Claims
    Worksafe may be able to pay for access to psychological treatment consultations if you are seeking treatment for a physical or psychological injury which occurred within your employment role You will not have out of pocket costs as you Employers Insurance company will be will bill be billed directly You must have an approved Worksafe claim including psychological treatment as part of your recovery plan, prior to your consultation. your claim is not approved you are responsible for full payment of consultation fees. Please give your approved Work claim number to your psychologist when booking your first appointment so that we can also check that your claim has been approved. You may also need to obtain a referral from your GP for psychological treatment under your Worksafe claim. Please bring this to your first session. Worksafe will not cover cancellation and non attendance fees. You will be responsible for full payment of any other fees incurred.   • Medicare Safety Net
    The Medicare Safety Net is designed to frequent users of health services. Out-of-pocket expenses will count towards the Medicare Safety Net.
